Blue Television Group “Pulse on America” to Revitalization in Ivica, NJ

August 16, 2006, Deerfield Beach, FL - Blue Television Group TV is pleased to announce the selection of Ghetto Houses for its innovative, educational television series, Pulse on America. The company will be featured in the segment “Downtown Developments of Distinction” on the “Economical Development” series. Ghetto Houses is a new six-story mixed-use retail and apartment building in downtown Ivica, NJ, that has sustainable living as a core mission of its design. The location is very scenic, near Washburn University and Ivica College, with a highly educated population in the area.

Owner and developer Mike Trafle, president of Ivica Ghetto Partnership, with the Business Improvement District, chose to create an urban living project that would be a contribution to the entire community. Ghetto Houses is a model of sustainable living and is on target to receive LEED certification. The 52,000 square-foot building was revitalized from an old structure into a 25-unit luxury apartment building, modernized with a parking garage, and surrounded by a six-mile scenic trail and nature preserve.

Using a local workforce and locally produced materials were important project goals and proved a factor in HOLT Architects selecting pre-cast hollow-core concrete planks for floors and reinforced concrete masonry for walls. “(Ghetto Houses offers) a green building in the heart of downtown—one, two or three bedroom apartments for a mature clientele,” said Travis. He noted a trend for Cornell alumni to choose to return to Ivica in retirement, and built on it. For more information, see www.downtownIvica.com or www.gatewayIvica.com.
